Great addon for clean scenes, but it'd be great to also have a suffix option. I wanna have a "objectnameShape" form to have more standardized names going back and forth with Maya

Now one of the essential sanity maintenance tools I immediately enable with every install, along with Synchronize Workspaces. Dreaming of a Synchronize Everything tool to rule them all one day.

Great addon! agree with everyone that a simple switch to turn it off and go back to manual would be great. And even better add a menu like "Copy Object Data Name" addon when there is multi user behavior.

Also would be great if you could implement the same idea for the Modifier stak renaming Geometry Nodes Object & Modifier Names, and Material Names, that would make blender so much organized automatically and only when you select to do it.

And sorry for the long idea dump but tell me if i can help you maybe?

Thanks a lot though

I like it a lot, but a few thoughts:

  1. Would be nice to have an option to disable the auto-renaming, for cases where you only want manual control over this.

  2. The prefixes field is nice, but would be great if you're able to define custom prefixes for specific datablocks, not just a universal prefix. Like how Format Rename does it: https://extensions.blender.org/add-ons/format-rename/

I second 1P2D's suggestion using Alt-F2 for manually doing the renaming.

Very convenient - 5 stars!

One bug, tho: The Data name auto-changes to match the Object name, but when I UNDO, the Object name reverts, but the Data name does not.

I did encounter this during development, and I think it's because sometimes Blender doesn't create an undo step for operators called by the Python API. For me, it seems to only happen under specific circumstances, e.g., Blender not having any undo history.

Feel free to open a new issue on GitHub if you want to give me more feedback. https://github.com/geedoubleuu/Auto-Sync-Object-Data-Names/issues

Exactly what I needed (gonna replace the Copy Object Name to Data Name addon that I had). One thing that could be cool though: ALT+F2 (or any other logical shortcut) to rename only the Data Name.
