Have you ever encountered problems like these when working with materials in Blender?
🗂️ Messy, unorganized materials that slow down your workflow
🎛️ Constantly opening the Shader Editor just to tweak simple parameters
👀 No dedicated material interface directly in the 3D Viewport
📦 No folder/category system, making materials hard to track
🕒 Wasting time adding, renaming, and organizing materials manually
❓ Not knowing where to start after installing new materials
⭐ If these sound familiar, MatColeX is built for you.
Fast access. Smart organization. A cleaner, more focused workflow—right inside your 3D Viewport.

A Note About This Tool 👀
This addon was originally developed as an essential part of our own daily workflow, helping us manage our large material library and organize shaders quickly. We often create complex node groups and only expose the most important parameters to keep things simple and less confusing in production. We are now sharing this tool back with the Blender community, hoping that it can make your own creative process smoother. We welcome your feedback and suggestions for improvement. Thank you.
Happy Blending!

📝 Updated Quick Guide: Instructions displayed when no folders exist are updated to reflect the new, stable workflow using Blender's native Active Slot.
🎯 Active Slot Application Solved: No more Slot 0 limitation! Materials now apply precisely to the Active Material Slot, supporting complex meshes and face assignments in Edit Mode.
This extension does not require special permissions.
Thank you so much for the incredibly kind feedback and for recognizing the core value of MatColeX—making material testing faster and easier! We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
⭐ Great News: The Active Slot Issue is Solved! We are happy to confirm that this limitation has been completely resolved in the latest stable version, MatColeX V.1.7.7.
The Apply Material functionality is now directly integrated with Blender's active slot mechanism, ensuring materials are applied exactly where you intend them to be.
We hope this major update dramatically improves your workflow! Please try the latest version and let us know what you think. Happy blending!
A really great solution for testing different materials on an item, because the materials are collected. Thanks a lot. However, it only applies to the item's first material slot; it would be more convenient if it could be applied to the active slot.
