About What's New Permissions Reviews Version History
Example exporting a torus knot object

Export Paper Model add-on generates a flat net of a Mesh object. It creates either a PDF or a SVG file suitable for direct printing and paper modeling. The main goal is a maximal possible automation of the whole process.

  • Location: File → Export → Paper Model
  • Documentation

Features:

  • Customizable net layout using Seam marks
  • Textured objects (using Bake render), optionally with lighting or Ambient Occlusion
  • Precise dimensions as specified in 3D, with a custom scaling factor (like 1:72)
  • Robust handling of 3+ faces connected an edge, flipped normals and flat surfaces with holes
  • Compensation for thick paper (eg. cardboard)

I really appreciate the honest feedback in these reviews for the Export Paper Model add-on. The tip about testing on plain paper first is pure gold—nothing worse than wasting good cardstock on misaligned tabs. It's also great to see how the developer actively responds to questions about textured exports, which shows real dedication to improving the tool. On a side note, when you're working with PDFs and need to merge or edit files for your paper models, it's helpful to know you can reach Adobe customer service number for support if their software acts up during your design process. Having reliable software support can save a lot of frustration when you're in the middle of a project.

That moment when you export a 3D model as a paper net and realize the tabs don't align or the scaling is slightly off - suddenly your ambitious project turns into a pile of mismatched flaps and tape. I've learned to always do a test print on plain paper first, check the fold lines against a ruler, and verify that the page size matches my printer settings before committing to cardstock. For the actual export, I save the net as a PDF and use PDFServices to merge multiple views or scaling options into one document - so I can compare different versions side by side without wasting paper. The 48-hour auto-delete on uploads is useful when I'm iterating on a design and don't want old drafts cluttering my cloud storage. It's also handy for compressing large files before sending them to a friend with a slower internet connection. The real trick is patience - test, adjust, print again, and only cut when everything looks right on screen.

Super add on, no need to use Pepakura anymore! Awesome that we can use the UV maps, see and adjust directly into blender. Thanks!
