In Object Mode > Context Pie, when multiple objects are selected, 2 new operators are now available in the "Join..." sub-menu:
Each operator creates a new object with a geo-nodes modifier that joins either selected objects or their parent collection, into this new object. This is an excellent way to separate your work in progress and final geometry in an all non destructive way!
Hope you enjoy. I'll make sure to update these to the new native modifiers blender has coming in 5.0.
