The Reference for IFC and best to understand what everything can be done based on IFC Standard already.
best add-on and community ever! indispensable for AEC professionals.
Needed for a good use of engineering.
This is a comunity addon by people working in the architecture, engineering, construction, and operations (AECO Industry), and is a must have tool when working with Building information modeling (BIM).
This addon focus on openBIM and promotes native IFC-worksflows with use of the IfcOpenShell frameworks.
Fantastic add-on!
The most important add-on to AEC users... Tks a lot!!
Almost too good to be true.
Simply perfect!!!
Amazing free tool to view, analyze, or edit any IFC file
I'm new to Bonsai, my experience is more on Civil3d and Revit and have been using Blender for 4 years. But I can see the great potential that it has to offer, I really love this extension (Add-on). Thank you, Dion.
I’ve had the pleasure of using Bonsai (formerly known as BlenderBIM) for several years, and I can’t overstate how much this add-on has transformed my workflow. Whether I’m sketching ideas directly onto IFC models using Blender’s Grease Pencil tool or managing and refining BIM properties across different projects, this tool has been invaluable.
One of the standout features for me is the ability to optimize IFC files exported from Revit. Anyone familiar with Revit knows its tendency to bloat files with redundant data, sometimes inflating the file size up 5 times. BlenderBIM/Bonsai efficiently cleans up this clutter (you can do this manually or automatically), resulting in leaner, more manageable files.
What truly sets Bonsai apart, however, is its capability to go beyond just reading IFC files. You can actually create true BIM models within Blender using the tools provided in the add-on, and then export these models to IFC! This feature opens up incredible possibilities for those who want to work directly within Blender while still adhering to industry-standard BIM practices.
Additionally, the add-on serves as an excellent IFC viewer and a powerful conversion tool, allowing you to export IFC files into various 3D formats compatible with other software. Given the complexity of IFC support and the sheer amount of work required to develop this level of functionality, it’s nothing short of amazing.
A huge thanks to Dion Moult and the rest of the developers. Your work is truly remarkable, and I can’t imagine my workflow without Bonsai!
Truly great for ifc files. Learning curve is a little bit steep, but once you start getting it, you model fast in 3d. It's still WIP so not the regular perfect, but rigid and slow, commercial software you are used to.
