It makes dealing with hundreds of assets fast and easy. Half of my time readying an asset I acquire for my asset library is spent pasting in Descriptions, Licenses, Authors, Copyrights, and adding tags to hundreds of objects and collections(rigs). This makes it easy.
Just select what you want to edit, then hit the "Asset" menu, and BAM.
DONE.
Want to remove a mistaken tag from hundreds of assets? Easy.
Want to add the same tag as one asset to hundreds like it? Done.
Want to not have to open every single file in every single asset library to change a simple licence? No problem.
What I really, really like is the ability to unmark assets. There are blend files that sometimes get poses and other trash marked as an asset, that you then have to dig into the outliner to unmark. Not anymore.
This should be a base level feature in the main blender program.
