KRANIO is an add-on, created as part of a medical study, that helps you quickly clean up an imported 3D scan.
KRANIO streamlines the workflow of working with 3D scanned models — centering, decimating, UV unwrapping, adding textures, materials, and exporting — down to a few button clicks. It seamlessly integrates with the "SimpleBake" add-on (which you will need to acquire separately) to take full advantage of its powerful texture baking capabilities, while simplifying it down to a few button clicks.
KRANIO will highlight the poly-count for each selected model so you can determine which models might need to be simplified.
This is the "General Fixes" section, which allows you to quickly center the selected objects and their origin points, and add the decimate modifier, reducing the polygon count by 50%.
The "Apply Materials" section lets you add procedural materials with one click. You can tweak the material settings to your liking, ensuring you get the exact look you're going for. With KRANIO you get access to a wide range of procedural materials, to visualize arteries, brains, tumors, skulls, and more.
The bottom part of the "Apply Materials" section lists three special materials. The buttons "Assign Teeth", "Assign Cerebellum", and "Assign Brain Stem" let you place a mask object where the given section of the model is located. Once confirmed, the Teeth material (for example) will be applied around where the mask was placed, gradually fading into the "Skull" material.
Once the object(s) are ready to be exported it is just a simple 3-step process to export the model and its textures. The "Bake Textures" section makes use of another add-on, called "SimpleBake". After purchasing and installing SimpleBake, you can make use of it through the KRANIO interface to quickly export your models and textures for sharing and importing into other programs.
This version of KRANIO contains:
This extension requests the following permission:
Export Textures and FBX to disk
In various places all objects are being iterated over to access the selection.
Unless there are special cases where you need to manipulate objects in other scenes scene.objects
should be used instead.
mod.__file__.replace('__init__.py', '')
isn't correct, use os.path.dirname(mod.__file__)
instead.
Flagging a possible issue for other moderators: bpy.ops.kranio.getsimplebake
opening a link to the blender-market (not sure if this is technically a policy violation).
Hey everyone,
Just a heads-up about a recent change regarding the licensing of add-ons on the Blender extension platform. Moving forward, all add-ons will need to be released under the GNU/GPL 3.0 license (SPDX:GPL-3.0-or-later). This is mainly to keep things simple and consistent across the board.
Previously, we accepted various licenses as long as they were compatible with Blender’s distribution. However, to avoid any confusion and streamline the process, all add-ons using the bpy API should now be presented as GPL 3 (the same license the Blender bundle is distributed). Regardless of whether the original code was under GPL 2, or something else like MIT or ZLIB.
Existing add-ons versions won't be affected. However, new updates will need to comply to the revised requirements.
Thanks for understanding, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
