This Blender addon will insert an Empty in a specific place on a tracked camera.
Once installed, the addon wil appear in the viewport's tool tab.
USAGE: You need to have a tracked camera with a background image. Place an empty where you need it. Press the Fire button. This will create a line that goes from the camera to infinity, passing through your empty. Move to another frame. Using snap to edge, move the locator so that it matches the area where you placed it before.
It's much easier to understand it you just look at the clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmL6dq4NcQo&feature=youtu.be
changed manifest: tag camera and tracking
This extension does not require special permissions.
Great add-on.
Couple of problems need to be solved before we approve:
blender_manifest
in tags add "Tracking".CREATE_EMPTY_OT_custom
operator altogether and in UI directly reference built-in operator for adding empty (should be row.operator("object.empty_add", icon="EMPTY_AXIS").type='PLAIN_AXES'
if I'm not mistaken).That's funny. Originally I didn't have a button to create the empty. I didn't know how to create the manifest so I asked on X and someone did it for me and added the empty creation button. I thought it was nice of him so I left it there. So I will try to do solution n.2, If I can't, I will take it out.
Changes done as requested
Unfortunately first two issues (tag and error when there's no camera are still there). Main operators poll needs to check for context.scene.camera and fail if its not present.
But this tool is to add an empty from a tracked camera. So obviously you need a camera to use it. Let me see what I can do. :-)
In the current version, all the buttons are greyed out if there is no camera in the scene. I don't understand what the problem is. Can you tell me more please?
You're right, I overlooked that. Approved. I would still advise to add "Tracking" tag in Blender manifest tho, people who need this will be searching for that on website.
Humm... it's already there. :-)
Nope, it currently shows
tags = ["Camera"]
You can put number of tags in there, separated by commas, but only those tags that are available on the website. For example:
tags = ["Camera", "Tracking"]
uploaded new version: Add-on "Fire Ray" v1.0.4
uploaded new version: Add-on "Fire Ray" v1.0.5
I see, I thought you were talking about the tag line. Fixed.
Once you're approved you don't need to ask for reviews anymore, you're free to modify add-on however you see fit and upload new versions :)
