What is VSE Shapes

VSE Shapes lets you place and draw rectangles, ellipses, and freehand strokes directly in the Video Sequence Editor.

How to use

Open a "Video Editing" workspace, move your mouse to the Sequencer and press shift A. Then go to Shapes and select the shape you want.

You can edit the shape by selecting it, going to the Properties panel, on the Strip tab, in the dropdown "Active Shape"

Features

  • Add a rectangle or ellipse centered in the frame, or drag it out by hand in the sequencer preview (Shift = 1:1 ratio, Ctrl = draw from center)
  • Freehand drawing: paint any number of brush strokes in the preview, then confirm with Enter/Space/right-click. Undo the last stroke with Ctrl+Z. Re-open a drawing later with "Edit Drawing" to keep adding to it
  • Full styling: fill on/off + color, stroke on/off + color + thickness, rounded corners, edge feather, brush size/color — all editable live after creation
  • Shapes are plain image strips using Alpha Over blending, so position, rotation, scale, and opacity use Blender's native (animatable) strip transform, and projects still render fine without the add-on installed

Panels live in the Properties editor's Strip tab. Requires a Video Sequencer preview open to use the draw tools.

Feel free to leave a review ! It shows interest and keeps me motivated to add new features. Feel free to ask for features you want to see added.
