Found under the Edit
N-panel, Vertex Overlap is a Blender add-on that alerts you to overlapping vertices in real-time and allows you to merge them with a single click.
Have you ever started, then canceled an extrusion? If you don't remember to immediately undo your last action, you will create overlapping vertices that aren't easy to spot until you start noticing weird rendering issues or you experience odd issues while editing your mesh.
Show Overlaps
button will highlight vertex overlaps, so you can preview what will be merged. You must be in Vertex Selection Mode to see the highlighted overlaps.Overlap Threshold
distance. If you only want to be alerted about overlapping vertices of a certain distance. The default is 0.0001m.Check Overlaps
button at anytime while in Edit mode.Merge Vertices
button that will merge overlapping vertices by the configured Overlap Threshold
distance. This is equivalent to Selecting All
and then Merging by Distance
. Now in a convenient single click.Edit
mode, the Overlapping Vertices
count will reflect the number of overlapping vertices in both mesh objects combined. If you have two objects, each with 2 overlapping vertices, and select both then tab to Edit mode, Vertex Overlap
will show 4
total overlapping vertices.Show Overlaps
button so you can see which vertices are overlapping. Useful if you just want to see which vertices are overlapping without merging them. You must switch to Vertex Selection mode to see which vertices are overlapping. This extension does not require special permissions.
Hi, thanks for the review. I added a Show Overlaps
button that will highlight the overlapping vertices (by selecting them) without merging them. You just need to be in Vertex Selection mode to see which vertices are highlighted. I'm not sure if this will address your exact issue, but hopefully it will be helpful. Just update to version 1.1.0 for that new feature.
Awesome addon! I was looking for something that will at least partially replace xview from 3ds max. However, i think it misses one important option - to just select those overlapping vertices instead of merging them. Its usefull in cases where the vertices are from different meshes, and should not be merged, just moved a little.
