Although it is quite convenient for modeling, it is not friendly for modeling with modifiers, it is much better to not change the origin of the object.
Yes, if the object origin shouldn't be moved, this add-on for moving the object origin probably shouldn't be used

Really helpful, never understood why base blender takes 2 operations to move the origin. Now this should be implemented into basic Blender.

Extremely useful, I did however notice that some funky stuff happens when you try to undo to before you clicked "orient to selected" after making edits to the mesh. it causes the object's rotation to glitch out, and it eventually reverts back to normal, but only after spamming the ctrl-z. Would love to see if you could get it fixed <3
Orange Turbine you solved one of Blenders most annoying things to me at least, trying to extrude things along the faces when the normal is misaligned ( I used to edit the origin orientation to fix that), or aligning faces in a weird direction (scaling to 0 in a direction), anyway thanks so much you made my life so much easier !!
