Multi Files Bookmark

Manage your projects as bookmarks in one Blender window.

About What's New Reviews Version History

✨ Multi Files Bookmark

A lightweight Blender add-on that lets you switch between multiple .blend project files in one Blender window, with a clean tab-style dock inspired by Chrome.

🧭 What it does

Multi Files Bookmark helps you manage Blender projects like browser tabs. Add frequently used .blend files to a dock bar, view them with thumbnails, and jump between projects without repeatedly digging through folders.

⚡ Key Features

  • Tab-style project switching: open saved .blend files from a compact dock bar.
  • Project bookmarks: keep frequently used files ready for quick access.
  • Thumbnail preview: recognize files visually instead of only reading names.
  • Customizable UI: adjust scale, color style, and dark mode behavior.
  • Toggle shortcut: show or hide the dock bar when you need more viewport space.
  • Chinese / English support: cleaner experience in both language modes.

🛠️ Installation

From Blender Extensions

  1. Open Blender.
  2. Go to Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions.
  3. Search for Multi Files Bookmark.
  4. Install and enable the add-on.

Manual installation

  1. Download the latest package from Releases.
  2. Open Edit > Preferences > Add-ons.
  3. Click Install from Disk.
  4. Select the downloaded .zip file and enable the add-on.

🌀 Basic Workflow

  1. Enable Multi Files Bookmark in Blender.
  2. Add new .blend projects to the dock or create new file.
  3. Use the tab bar to switch files quickly without saving.
  4. Customize the dock appearance and shortcut behavior in the add-on settings.

What's New

0.7.1 June 12th, 2026

This update primarily focuses on UI modifications to better suit user preferences:

  1. The default color settings are now set to "Read Theme Entries." In this mode, switching themes will automatically change the colors accordingly. You can still manually change the colors by unchecking the box or modifying the values for the read theme entries; everything is customizable.

  2. A preset storage function has been added to the bottom of the color modification menu: you can store multiple custom color presets, which are theme-independent and specific to the plugin's UI. These preset files are stored in a local cache path, so uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin will not result in their loss.

  3. A feature has been added where hovering the mouse over a read theme entry allows you to preview its color. Whenever the mouse hovers over an item in the menu, the plugin panel temporarily changes the corresponding area to that item's color value. If you don't confirm the changes, the menu will revert to the unmodified state.

Hi Thanks for the prompt update, the file name hover display feature request is made by me.

However it has an issue, the file name hover display panel color is not following the color of other panels, so it's white all the time.

So if I change the text color to a bright one, it doesn't readable. Can we make the file name hover panel the same color as the main panel?

Thanks

Hi,

  1. Not a bug, more like a UI issue:

The minimum scale option value (Dock Scale) is hard caped to 0.80, but I think it is still a little too large compare to the other component of the UI, at least for me!

  1. Suggestion: theme (colors) of the add on:

It Would have been great if it was possible to change the colors of the add on or let the add on follow blender's active theme colors, so it would look more cohesive with the rest of the panel.

PS: Thank you for sharing, very useful!
