MMGpy - Mesh Remeshing

Adaptive surface remeshing via the MMG library.

About What's New Reviews Version History
Overview

MMGpy brings adaptive surface remeshing to Blender, powered by the open-source MMG library, the same remesher used in academic and industrial finite-element workflows.

This extension is built on top of mmgpy, the Python bindings for MMG, so MMG runs natively in the background while you stay in Blender. Click Remesh in the N-panel and the active mesh is rebuilt in place. Iterate freely: Undo restores the original every time.

What it does

  • Adaptive remesh of the active mesh, in place, with full Undo
  • Presets (Fine / Medium / Coarse) plus simple sliders for finer control
  • Local refinement zones — drop a Sphere or Box Empty into the scene to make MMG put more (or fewer) triangles inside that region
  • Auto-fit the defaults to the active mesh, so settings stay sensible at any scale
  • Color by quality — shade triangles from red (poor) to blue (excellent), with live stats per mesh
  • Safety net — confirmation dialog before producing very large meshes
