CamFree:
This extension provides a solution for a common workflow challenge in Blender: using the Fly and Walk view navigation modes with an active scene camera that has Object Constraints applied.
Normally, constraints like "Track To" prevent the camera from being freely moved or rotated during navigation. This add-on bypasses this limitation by intelligently detecting when you're navigating a constrained camera and automatically using a temporary, constraint-free copy.
Features
Intelligent Constraint Detection
- Automatic Activation: When in Camera View with a constrained camera, navigation shortcuts automatically use constraint-free navigation. When not in Camera View or without constraints, normal navigation is used.
- Seamless Integration: Works with your existing Fly/Walk navigation shortcuts - no need to remember new keys.
Core Navigation Mechanics
- Constraint Bypass (Create): Duplicates the constrained camera, removes all constraints from the duplicate, sets it as the active scene camera, and invokes standard Blender navigation.
- Applying New Position (Commit): When navigation is accepted (Left-Click or Enter/Return), the final transformation is transferred back to the original constrained camera.
- Reverting Changes (Cancel): If navigation is canceled (Right-Click), the original camera state is fully restored.
Manual Access
- Find Fly Navigation with Constraints and Walk Navigation with Constraints in the View > Navigation menu for explicit control.
