The extension enables quick armature selection, allowing for seamless character switching during animation.
Thanks to the suggestion from user nickberckley, I modified the code and now the buttons added to each project are stored and deleted correctly.
This extension does not require special permissions.
Using a global variable for added_armatures
is problematic, because that means that list is Runtime, and every time user closes and opens Blender it will be emptied and user will have to add armatures again. To address this, create CollectionProperty that stores armatures as PointerProperties and register it on scene level.
Why not allow regular object as well? Some people don't use armatures for rigging, like for pistons for example, it might be more flexible if this is more general character-switcher instead of armature-switcher. But I'll leave that decision to you.
I modified the code as you suggested and it is true that what was causing the conflict was that variable!
I want to limit the use of the addon to character selection, at least for now, so I think that for now only armatures will be saved
Hey everyone,
Just a heads-up about a recent change regarding the licensing of add-ons on the Blender extension platform. Moving forward, all add-ons will need to be released under the GNU/GPL 3.0 license (SPDX:GPL-3.0-or-later). This is mainly to keep things simple and consistent across the board.
Previously, we accepted various licenses as long as they were compatible with Blender’s distribution. However, to avoid any confusion and streamline the process, all add-ons using the bpy API should now be presented as GPL 3 (the same license the Blender bundle is distributed). Regardless of whether the original code was under GPL 2, or something else like MIT or ZLIB.
Existing add-ons versions won't be affected. However, new updates will need to comply to the revised requirements.
Thanks for understanding, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
