Demonstration

So, let's say you got this object with a bunch of loose meshes inside; and you wanna edit one of those meshes, but you're worried about accidentally messing with the others or merging verts you didn't mean to.

Now, the usual move would be to link select the loose mesh you wanna work on, separate it by selection, exit the current object, and enter the newly created one to edit that mesh. Then, when you're done with your edits, you gotta exit that object, select both objects, and merge 'em back together into one -- it's a whole process.

But this addon saves you all those extra steps. Here's how it works:

You just go into the object, link select the mesh you wanna edit, then go to Mesh --> Separate Loose Plus --> Separate and Edit, and you're instantly editing that mesh as a separate object.

When you're done with your edits, just go to Mesh --> Separate Loose Plus --> Merge Back to Object, and it's all one object again, with your changes intact.

I'd recommend changing the shortcut for this addon to 'P' and setting the native separation tool to 'Alt+P'. That way, when you wanna separate, you just hit 'L' for link select and right next to it it press 'P' for Separate and Edit -- smooth and fast.

And for merging back, you can assign 'Merge Back to Object' to 'Ctrl+J', so you're back to your original object instantly.
