ND Primitives allows you to create parametric primitives in Blender.
Once you're done, simply enter Edit Mode and begin modeling! If you ever change your mind, you can enable the modifier again and continue tweaking it in Object Mode. Once done, you can jump straight back into modeling again!

Blender doesn't bundle as many add-ons as it used to, but if there was one more to add, I think this extension would deserve to be one of them. A must-have. 👍
